Buffalo State College hereby designates the following categories of student information as public or directory information. Such information may be disclosed by the institution for any purpose, at its discretion.
1. Name, address, e-mail address, telephone number, dates of attendance, part-time/full-time status class, academic advisor.
2. Most recent previous institution attended, major field of study, awards, honors (includes dean’s list), degree(s) conferred (including dates).
3. Past and present participation in officially recognized sports and activities, physical factors (height, weight of athletes), date and place of birth, photographs.
Currently enrolled students may withhold disclosure of any category of information under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974. To withhold disclosure, written notification must be received by September 15th in the Registrar’s Office, Moot Hall, Buffalo State College, 1300 Elmwood Avenue, Buffalo, N.Y. 14222-1095. Non-disclosure of information will commence thereafter and be effective until September 14th of the following year. Written notification to withhold disclosure must be made each academic year.
Buffalo State College assumes that failure, on the part of any student, to specifically request the withholding of categories of directory information by the deadline date indicates individual approval for disclosure.
Student Directory Withholding Procedure
An electronic directory of student campus e-mail addresses is provided to the campus community in the interest of building community and fostering communication between and among students, faculty, and staff.
The college allows you, the student, to decide if you wish to withhold your campus e-mail address from the student directory. To withhold your e-mail address, follow these instructions:
Go to Personal Information > Student Directory Profile.
To suppress your directory listing, check the "Do Not Display" box next to your name, then click "Submit Changes."
If you change your mind later, you can go back to the page and uncheck the "Do Not Display" box.
The requested change may take up to 24 hours to take effect.
Please note that failure on the part of any student to request withholding of their campus e-mail address from the directory indicates individual approval for release of the campus e-mail address.
