Federal Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal law that allows parents access to their children’s educational records. When a student turns 18 years old, or enters a post-secondary institution (at any age), the rights under FERPA transfer from the parent to the student.
At Buffalo State University, federal law, state law and regents’ policy govern access and release of student records. These forms must be completed by the registered student as outlined in Registrar's website.
